A wellness visit is your dedicated time to step back, assess where your health stands, and plan for where you want it to go. At Blue Water Primary Care, annual wellness visits are one of the most valuable appointments you can keep — not because something is wrong, but because we believe great health is built proactively, one intentional visit at a time.
Wellness visits at Blue Water Primary Care are distinct from problem-focused sick visits. Rather than addressing a specific complaint, the focus is entirely on your overall health status, preventive care needs, and long-term wellness goals. Your provider will review your medical and family history, update your medication list, check your vital signs, assess your weight and BMI, review your age-appropriate screening and vaccination schedule, and discuss lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, sleep, stress, and alcohol or tobacco use.
We also use wellness visits as an opportunity to screen for mental health concerns, including depression and anxiety, which are often under-recognized and under-treated in primary care settings. If mental health support would benefit you, we can discuss options, provide resources, and coordinate referrals to appropriate professionals.
For Medicare patients, the Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is a fully covered benefit that includes a health risk assessment, cognitive evaluation, and personalized prevention plan. For commercially insured patients, annual preventive wellness exams are typically covered at no out-of-pocket cost. We encourage all patients — regardless of age or current health status — to schedule their wellness visit every year without exception.
